The song is about the fact that love is taken for granted, and how most relationships are in emergency status. It is also about Williams' witnessing her parents' argument and failing marriage as a child. During an interview with the February 2008 edition of Alternative Press, Williams said,[2]
emergency screamo version paramore
Ed Masley at The Arizona Republic ranked it as the 11th best Paramore song, stating "this one offsets melancholy jangling with headbanging power chords, the jangling underscoring Williams' bittersweet delivery as she sets the tone with a pout of, "I think we have an emergency.""[3]
I think we have an emergencyI think we have an emergencyIf you thought I'd leave, then you were wrongCause I won't stop holding onSo are you listening? So are you watching me?If you thought I'd leave, then you were wrongCause I won't stop holding on.This is an emergencySo are you listening? And I can't pretend that I don't see thisit's really not your faultWhen no one cares to talk about it[To talk about it]Cause I've seen love dieWay too many timesWhen it deserved to be alive (deserved to be alive)I've seen you cryWay too many timesWhen you deserved to be alive (alive)So you give up every chance you getjust to feel new againI think we have an emergencyI think we have an emergencyAnd you do your best to show me love, but you don't know what love is.So are you listening? So are you watching me?Well I can't pretend that I don't see thisBut it's really not your faultWhen no one cares to talk about it[to talk about it?]Cause I've seen love dieWay too many timesWhen it deserved to be alive (deserved to be alive)I've seen you cryWay too many timesWhen you deserved to be alive (alive)Scars, they will not fade away.No one cares to talk about it, can we talk about it?Cause I've seen love dieWay too many timesWhen it deserved to be alive (deserved to be alive)I've seen you cryWay too many timesWhen you deserved to be alive (alive)

While every annual WARPED TOUR COMPILATION features an army of emo, punk-pop, and hardcore acts, the 2006 edition offers up a few stylistic surprises. The admirably eclectic two-disc set begins with "The End," a propulsive track by Saves the Day, and proceeds to touch on alternative metal (Helmet's "Bury Me"), gypsy rock (via Gogol Bordello's "Not a Crime"), and neo-goth rock (I Am Ghost's "We Are Always Searching"), while also including usual suspects like screamo heroes Escape the Fate ("Ransom").Track listingDISC 1:1. With the perspective of holding events across cities in New York, California, and Florida as well as in Las Vegas, Dallas, and Detroit, Maccoby said they've learned some of the distinct tastes of different crowds and their affinity for emo music that leans either pop-punk, hardcore, screamo, or downcast. With Austin serving as a popular relocation spot for creatives in their 20s and 30s, he said the eclectic crowds here tend to be open to many subgenres.
"There are some cities where it's clear that it's a hardcore and screamo crowd and the poppy stuff is not going down. Then in other cities it'll be a younger crowd that wants newer stuff, or in Florida people want all of those Florida bands that were coming up at the same time," he said. "Austin is similar to New York because it's a transient city where you have people here from all over the place with an eclectic mix of people and you can try lots of different things for a slightly older crowd." 2ff7e9595c
